Exercise Joint Warrior

For the second time this year, our fixed wing flight operations team and supporting engineers took part in one of Europe’s largest military exercises, Joint Warrior. Running from 4-15 October off Scotland’s east coast, the exercise involved 11 nations, 6000 military personnel, 28 warships and 81 aircraft, with CAvS being the only non-military flying unit to take a key role.

Throughout the period we launched two waves of seven Falcon 20 jets every day. The aircraft provided both electronic warfare and threat simulation for Typhoon and F-35 Lightning air-to-air training, and as a maritime strike package for the UK Carrier Group. We also deployed our DA42 Intelligance, Surveillance, Reconnaisance (ISR) platform which conducted Close Air Support training for the Joint Fires teams operating across the region.
